Understanding Bad Stuff, Trauma & PTSD
This 2-hour live workshop is designed for coaches, medical professionals and all those who hold sacred space.
Participants will learn to understand the difference between a traumatic incident and PTSD, how to identify the hallmarks of a traumatic reactions, and how the “rule of two” can wake up previously dormant traumatic experiences.
The workshop will also offer simple techniques for managing traumatic reactivity in the moment, and ways of caring for all of the body’s rhythms and systems to bring long term healing and resilience.
Objectives:
- Explain the difference between covert and overt trauma
- Name the rule of thumb for identifying a traumatic reaction
- Name one component that must be present for a trauma-treatment approach to be effective
- Demonstrate a simple tapping technique for responding to distress in the moment

Healing Bad Stuff, Trauma & PTSD
This 6-week deep-dive class is open to those who have attended the introductory 2-hour workshop (see above) and want to go deeper into their understanding and treatment of trauma in their practice.
Over the six week period, participants will learn all about:
- the pyramid of traumatic experience
- self as the agent of healing
- trauma as a boundary violation
- the importance of maintaining, modeling and teaching clear boundaries
- how sleep tells you when trauma’s the problem
- trauma that is happening now
- trauma that has been woken up
- developmental trauma and the ACEs scale
- prenatal, epigenetic and inherited trauma
- the spectrum of dissociation
- keeping clients in the window of tolerance
- staying in your professional lane
- when you absolutely positively have to refer
- caring for yourself when your own stuff gets triggered
- a new practical intervention EVERY WEEK that you can use with your clients right now
Objectives:
- Describe the pyramid of traumatic experience and why it’s important
- Explain the significance of The Rule of Two
- Demonstrate two interventions you could offer when a client is experiencing trauma
- Describe the indicators that a referral is warranted

Continuing Education

- The ICF for 2 CCEUs (1 hour of core competency and 1 hour of resource development).
- The Minnesota Board of Marriage & Family Therapy for 2 CEUs (Approval #CE2023-380)
Healing Bad Stuff, Trauma & PTSD (6 week deep-dive class) has been approved by:
- The ICF for 12 hours of CCEU credit (5 hours of core competency and 7 hours of resource development).
- The Minnesota Board of Marriage & Family Therapy for 12 CEUs (Approval #CE2023-381)
Certificates will be provided to all participants for submission to individual licensing and certifying bodies for continuing education credit.
